Code of Coppens: Unlocked

What is it?

You surely know the 2 Coppens brothers with their program on VTM with escaperooms: Code of Coppens.
Two BVs are locked up and have to solve all kinds of puzzles in order to escape within 60 minutes.

So in addition to the 100+ locations in Flanders, you can now – temporarily – visit the “real” escaperooms like on TV.
In Antwerp they have put together 2 rooms.
The room(s) of Staf and the room(s) of Mathias and is now called Code of Coppens: Unlocked.

The concept is unfortunately different from a typical escaperoom which in itself can be confusing for beginners.
It involves about 50 minutes instead of 60 minutes and the game takes place in 4 themed rooms.
They say 5 but the last room is a VR game.
Nice to see once but this should be an extra.
There is only 1 headset and the rest of the team can follow along/help.
Nothing special.
Everyone having a headset would be too much hassle, understandable.
But this should not be counted as ‘5th room’.

You have 8 minutes (not 10 as you might think after reading the info on the site) to solve the puzzles.
If you and your team finish faster, you will have to wait in a small room.
If you fail to solve the puzzles within 8 minutes, the next door will irrevocably open.
Then you have to wait another 2 minutes anyway.
After all, the gamemaster is setting everything up again because, of course, a group is also working for you.
It has to move forward.

And so that’s the pity.
It feels a bit like band work.
And that would still be ok if at least everything would work making it feasible because the puzzles are not difficult at all.
That 50 minutes is really only if the team is inexperienced.
Most groups end up spending only about 20 minutes.

The price is not too bad (20€ pp) but then again it is not 60 minutes at all.
You are more waiting than playing.
Is it worth it? Judge for yourself via other visitors’ reviews.

Is it a little too far or fully booked there?
Then be sure to check availability for one of our 4 rooms.
